Because it is very hard for us to determine if someone was glitching, and because most glitches are able to be defended against, we usually don't ban for them. What I can do is tell you about the glitches I know and how to defend against them. If you feel that there are new glitches that should be talked about, please let me know!!!!! I haven't actively raided in a long time (and never on my server). Therefore, I might be a little behind...
- Wall break chest grab - A person can break a block, even though it is on protected land, and be able to see through it for a split second before the block is replaced on their screen. If they manage to right-click your chest in that small window, they will be able to loot your chest. Note that this glitch can also be used with opening a door and then clicking the chest before it teleports you back.
- Solution - If you want your chest room above ground, make your walls multiple blocks thick. Be wary of using quickly destroyed materials such as sand or dirt because with a diamond shovel, they can use this glitch with walls that are two and sometimes 3 blocks thick. I highly suggest using a combination of materials such as dirt and cobblestone because they won't be able to switch tools in time.
- Pop up glitch - This glitch is where someone gets under your base, breaks a block, steps in to that place where the block was, and then logs out quickly before the block comes back. If performed correctly, that person will be "popped up" to the next open area (i.e. your chest room).
- Solution - Be very wary of building over caves. Caves can extend outwards off of your protected land. This makes it easy for people to break in to the cave and then get under your base to perform this glitch. This also applies to your mine. I recommend blocking off all the areas that lead to directly under your base whether it's a cave or a mine. Finally, to be extra sure, you can dig out a room under your base (make sure it is 3 or 4 blocks high). That way, if people do do (lol) the glitch, they'll be popped up in to that empty room. Or you could build a sky base.
- Double door glitch - Placing a redstone torch down in front of double doors will cause one door to open, even on another faction's land.
- Solution - Don't use double doors. Ha.
- Glitch through doors - I've never tried this but there might be a few ways people can glitch through doors.
- Solution - If you want to be extra safe, block off doors with blocks when you log off for the day.
- Setting off TNT on another faction's territory - It is possible for another faction to set off TNT on your faction land. It involves placing TNT near an existing power source (i.e. a pressure plate or lever). Even though Factions will prevent the placing of blocks on another person's territory, this glitch bypasses that because setting the TNT down near the power source will register it as an entity.
- Solution - I recommend that you do not use pressure plates, levers, or any redstone in your base. Right now there is simply no way to prevent this glitch with Factions. Update: This might be fixed now.
- WorldBorder Knockback - When you hit the edge of the world, you are knocked back approximately 3 blocks. If your faction is right near the edge of the world, a person might be knocked back in to your base.
- Solution - Do not build close to the edge of the world.
Other Tips
- You are automatically kicked from your faction if you do not log in for 14 days. If the last person in your faction is autokicked, your faction will be disbanded.
- Use a water curtain to protect your chest room. TnT won't blow up if it hits water. So just place buckets of water all around your walls and roof of your chest room.
- If you do not want people setting their home inside of your base, DO NOT ALLY THEM! That is the only way someone outside of your faction can set their home in your base.
- Here's a video tutorial on how to build a TnT cannon. Thanks to @anUNDEADblade for making the video.
- Place a block on top of your chests while you aren't using them. This acts as a sort of chest protection because even if someone gets in to your base, they won't be able to loot anything since they can't break the block and you can't open a chest with a block on top of it.
- Logging out while in combat will result in your automatic death thanks to CombatTag. Please pay attention to server restart warnings as being in combat while the server is restarting or shutting down will also trigger CombatTag.
- Faction members are automatically kicked after 1 week if they don't log in. If the last member of your faction happens to be auto-kicked, your faction will be disbanded.
Faction Land Claiming
Claiming faction land is one of the most largely-misunderstood concepts on a server like ours. Most people are under the impression that claiming faction land requires your power to be higher than the opposing factions'; this is wrong.
Claiming an opposing faction's land depends on one thing, and one thing only; the opposing faction's power-to-land ratio. If an opposing faction has more claimed land than power, then you are able to claim the difference, provided that you have enough available power to do so.
Let me put it in other terms. Let's say that you are the faction Kitties, and you have 25 claimed land out of a maximum of 70 available power. There is a faction nearby that is called Puppies. The faction Puppies has 25 claimed land and 20 available power. (Notice I say 'available' power, not maximum.) You are able to claim 5 land from the faction Puppies because they have 5 more land than available power, and because you have enough available power to claim more land.
If you still don't understand the concept, then there is no conceivable way for me to explain it to you. This is literally as simple as it gets. Thanks to @Mash_Tactics for this land claiming explanation.
