What's been going on with me.

I'm sure most of you know by now that my family is going through some very serious times. I thought I'd take a moment and update you guys on what has been happening - and there is good news!

On Thursday, my step-dad was complaining of chest pain and my mom called an ambulance. He was feeling fine but when they when they got to the emergency room, he had a cardiac arrest. His heart stopped. The doctor came out and told my mom that she was sorry, they did everything they could, but he is gone. He was pronounced dead. My mom told them that that's not possible and to go back in and try again. And she was yelling at him to come back.

Somehow, they got a pulse. He was dead for almost 20 minutes but he came back. Then they rushed him to ICU. They lowered his body temperature to 33 degrees F and paralyzed him so the machine could help him breath. The doctors told us that it was almost certain that his brain would be completely dead because of the amount of time with out blood/oxygen but it was miraculous that he was even alive at this point.

He wasn't expected to wake up until Wednesday but Friday night he opened his eyes briefly. Saturday morning, he woke up. He is progressing much better and faster than expected. He was responding to the nurse's request to squeeze her hand, blink his eyes, move his toes etc. My mom asked him if he knew who she was and he nodded yes. He even gave a thumbs up. He is even more active today and knows we are here. He nods yes and no to our questions. He waves to people and points to them. He is still on a lot of medication and stuff though so he is a little bit out there the nurse said.

He is doing really well right now and tomorrow they might be able to take out his breathing tube and he should be able to speak again soon after. Him and my mom are the talk of the hospital right now because of how incredible this whole thing has been the past few days. The doctors and nurses said they have never seen anything like this. The emergency room doctor said that everyone was talking about my mom and how she has the power to bring husbands back from the dead lol.

So that's what has been up with me lately - going in and out of the hospital. Things are looking very good right now though. I appreciate all of your support and patience.
